Norco, Inc. welcomes growth as it expands with latest acquisition

BOISE, IDAHO

Norco, Inc., a welding, safety and medical supply company headquartered out of Boise, Idaho, has announced the acquisition of the respiratory and medical supply business of MedNow, a joint venture between Walgreens Infusion and Respiratory Services and the St. Alphonsus Health System. The infusion business of the joint venture is not affected by this transaction and will continue to conduct business as usual.

“This is a great move for health care in the Treasure Valley,” said Ned Pontious, President of Norco, “A locally-owned company serving the great hospitals and residents of this community helps to strengthen a local, continued partnership in the valley.”

"Norco is a respected and important health care partner and is very well suited to continue serving our patients with this new venture," said Sally Jeffcoat, President and CEO of Saint Alphonsus Health System. "We believe that with the joining of Norco and MedNow our mission to provide superior quality health care to our communities will be further enhanced."

“This will enable Norco to better compete with the eight other providers of oxygen and medical equipment providers in the Boise, Nampa, and Ontario, Oregon areas. Although some of these competitors are large, national providers, Norco will continue to offer broad scale service with a local flair,” said Pontious. “Norco’s medical slogan, ‘Hey…Life Just Got Started,’ characterizes its commitment to provide patients with improved respiratory health, comfort, and mobility with oxygen therapy in institutions and at home; increased health, comfortable sleep with a variety of special products; and greater mobility and physical comfort with wheelchairs and scooters,” Pontious added.

Headquartered out of Boise, Norco is the nation’s largest privately owned welding, safety, medical and gas supplier, currently operating over 50 branches in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Nevada, Washington, Utah, and Wyoming.

Norco began in Boise in 1948 as the welding supply division of the Nordling Auto Parts Company. In 1968 Norco was purchased by Larry Kissler, which at the time had 15 employees and two locations.
