APPLICATION & BENEFITS

Norgas 1

O2, CO2, AR

GMAW, FCAW (limited), Short Arc, Spray Arc, Pulse

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels

  • 3/16” to 1/2” thickness
  • Better operator appeal verses AR/CO2 mixes
  • Good multi-pass capabilities
  • Good arc stability
  • Low smoke & spatter levels

Norgas 2

HE/AR

GMAW, GTAW

Aluminum, Magnesium

  • Compared to Argon:
    • Better bead width & fusion
    • Heat transfer improved
    • Wetting action & travel speeds increase
  • Used for medium material thickness, 3/32” – 3/8”

Norgas 3

O2/CO2/AR

GMAW, FCAW (limited), Short Arc, Spray Arc, Pulse

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels

  • Better choice for materials up to 3/16"
  • Both spray and short arc transfer
  • Goes into spray transfer at lower voltages
  • Increased wetting. High deposition efficiency. Improved mechanical properties

Norgas 4

CO2/AR/HE

GMAW, Short Arc only

Stainless Steel

  • Good for arc wire welding of thin gauge stainless steel

Norgas 6

CO2/AR

GMAW, Short Arc, Spray Arc, Pulse

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels, Stainless Steels

  • Excellent with pulse on heavy sections of steel and stainless
  • Used for out of position welding and thinner plate in pulse mode
  • Maximum C02 allowed to weld stainless to avoid carbide precipitation
  • Low smoke

Norgas 7

CO2/AR

GMAW, FCAW, Short Arc, Spray Arc, Pulse

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels

  • Excellent mechanical properties
  • Increased travel speeds
  • Improved wetting with increase in width of fusion
  • Used more in spray transfer and metalcore wires

Norgas 8

CO2

GMAW, FCAW, Short Arc, Spray Arc

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels, Heavy Material

  • Close to Norgas 7 but has better tolerance to mil scale
  • Used more in short arc than spray mode
  • Flux cored wires
  • Good deposition for short arc

Norgas 9

CO2/AR

GMAW, FCAW, Short Arc Only

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels

  • For short arc applications versus CO2
  • Decrease in crown
  • Less spatter
  • Less burn through
  • Decrease in smoke
  • Most popular for flux cored wires

Norgas 10

O2/AR

GMAW, Spray Arc Only

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels, Stainless Steels

  • Provides good shielding at low flow rates
  • Tolerant of arc length changes
  • Good wetting and arc stability
  • Provides lowest level of fumes on solid wires
  • Also used on stainless where high corrosion resistance is needed

Norgas 11

O2/AR

GMAW, Spray Arc Only

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels, Stainless Steels

  • Weld puddle fluidity increases
  • Faster travel speeds
  • Lower transition level to spray
  • Droplet size will decrease while the droplet rate will increase

Norgas 12

HE/AR

GMAW, GTAW

Aluminum Alloys, Magnesium, Copper and Nickel Alloys

  • Hot
  • Good on thick aluminum with good x-ray quality
  • Reduces cleaning
  • Less spatter and high travel speeds
  • 5/32" - 1/2" material thickness

Norgas 14

H2/AR

PAW, PAG, PAC Plasma Arc Welding, Gouging and Cutting

Stainless Steels, Nickel, Nickel Alloys, Magnesium and Low Alloy Steels

  • Used mainly for plasma cutting and gouging on stainless alloy and aluminum
  • Leaves a very smooth, shiny and non-contaminated edge or groove
  • In welding, used for high-speed automatic welding of stainless tanks

Norgas 15

CO2/HE/AR

GMAW, Spray Arc, Pulse

Stainless Steels, Low Alloy Steels

  • Smooth spray transfer characteristics
  • Strong welds which are smooth and bright in color
  • Very high deposition rates
  • Great control over the weld pool
  • Good for both stainless and carbon steels
  • Good out of position in pulse mode

Norgas 17

CO2/AR

GMAW, FCAW, Spray Arc, Pulse

Carbon Steels, Low Alloy Steels

  • Very close to Norgas 7 but better in the spray transfer mode
  • Increased travel speeds
  • Excellent mechanical properties
  • Very high deposition rates.

Norgas 21

H2/AR
